My parents are selling their home at 4 Driftwood Lane, South Yarmouth, Massachusetts (in the middle of Cape Cod). If you are looking in the area, you should have a look. Don't let a drive by fool you. It looks small from the front. It's not. It's got a large private backyard, with a big swimming pool, and a view of "Muddy Creek," which is a pretty good size tidal creek that leads to Follins Pond. Bass River leads from Follins Pond out to the ocean (Nantucket Sound). Here's the back of the house, looking up from the pool:
Here's the view from the shallow end of the pool in the back yard (the creek empties into Follins Pond, roughly in the upper right corner of this picture):
There are steps leading down the creek, and you can go kayaking, canoeing or the like from the back yard:
Another view from the backyard. You can pretty much always count on Swans, Geese, a variety of Ducks, Great Blue Herons and/or Great Egrets nesting in the back. Over Memorial Weekend, I saw a Great Blue Heron and a Great Egret fly by, and saw Canadian Geese and Mute Swans nesting back there.
The yard has a lot of mature landscaping as well -- dogwood, cherry, Rhodedendron, heather, azalea, hydrangea, rose of sharon, . . .
Neither Yahoo nor Mapquest really map the location correctly, but this is pretty close: Map of 4 Driftwood Ln South Yarmouth, MA 02664-1012
You can see the real estate listing here: There is a virtual tour on the Today Real Estate site, but they make you sign in to see it: |
